INASMET-TECNALIA

The RTD performer INASMET-TECNALIA is a leading European materials research centre, founded in 1962, with activities in foundry, metal working, welding and joining, heat and surface treatments, ceramics, surface technology, polymers, composites and chemical technology. The policy of INASMET-TECNALIA is to work closely with the industry on a research contract and consultancy basis. The main objective in industrial projects is the incorporation of new technologies and processes and the improvement and optimisation of actual or new products.

INASMET-TECNALIA also provides technical assistance, information and training to industry. Currently there are 250 people working in INASMET-TECNALIA. The main research and development work within the project will be carried out by the Functional Materials and Particles Technology Department. This group has a very experienced in European, National and private projects dealing with advanced materials for thermal management. Moreover, a wide view of the problems is adopted because the group is formed with people with different degrees such as Materials PhD, Mechanical Engineers, Technical Engineers and Chemists. The facilities of INASMET-TECNALIA in this field are ideal to develop these components. There is also a department that performs all kind of tests to characterise materials from different points of view (CTE measurement, mechanical testing, metallurgical characterisation…).
